From Galway to Edinburgh, from New York to London – The Walworth Farce has been half way around the world but now it’s back.

Following its sell-out success at London’s National Theatre, Enda Walsh’s remarkable play The Walworth Farce will run at Project Arts Centre in Dublin from December 8 – 20 following a limited run in Galway from Dec 3 – 6. Since receiving its world premiere with Druid in 2006, this absurdly funny yet tender production has toured to Edinburgh, New York and London, wowing audiences and critics alike and winning the presitigous Fringe First Award at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe during its sell out run in 2007.

This stunning play by Enda Walsh combines frenetic, madcap slapstick with shocking
realism as it delivers an achingly tender insight into what happens when we become stuck in the stories we tell ourselves about our lives.

Enda Walsh is one of the leading playwrights of our time. The Druid production of The New Electric Ballroom, written and directed by Enda Walsh, won the Fringe First Award at the 2008 Edinburgh Festival Fringe while the film Hunger, co-written by Walsh and director Steve McQueen was recently released in Ireland following its success at Cannes earlier this year where it won the prestigious Camera d’Or award.

Tim Smith, Druid’s General Manager, commented on their forthcoming production “Druid is delighted to bring The Walworth Farce back to Ireland after its far reaching travels abroad. To present the return of this award winning play, performed by an exemplary cast, is a great way for Druid to end an already hugely successful year."

Druid gratefully acknowledges funding received from The Arts Council/An Chomhairle Ealaíon.
