Event details: A Doll's House by Henrik Ibsen at The Helix
Description
A Dolls House is a modern masterpiece. Much of the drama centres around one of the greatest fictional characters ever written, Nora Helmer. Nora is a respectable married mother with a comfortable lifestyle. But once the veneer of domesticity begins to unravel she is forced on an unavoidable journey of self discovery. She confronts truths that shake the foundations of her existence with far reaching consequences for both herself and those around her.
When first performed the play provoked mass controversy and theatre walkouts. Often referred to as the first true feminist play, it still poses relevant questions about the roles we play, and conventions we allow ourselves to conform to.
