Based in Philadelphia, this 12 piece ensemble integrates various styles and musical traditions to form a unique and captivating sound. The groupÂ's instrumentation includes a traditional string quartet, electric guitar, bass, drums, clarinet, tenor and soprano saxophones, trombone, and trumpet. Hailed as Â"BrilliantÂ" by the Philadelphia Daily News, the sound of Aerial Photograph is an amalgamation of jazz, classical, multi-cultural aesthetics, various ethnic musical traditions and popular music all performed with a strong emphasis on nuance and subtlety. Matt Davis' Aerial Photograph was organized in the autumn of 2001 and began performing in spring of 2002. The aim of this music, as in the picture, is to see life with a greater, more expansive view.
