The Joe Louis Arena, also known as The Joe or JLA, is a 20,058-seat multi-purpose facility located in Detroit, Michigan. Sitting along the Detroit River, the Joe Louis Arena is the city’s largest indoor sports and entertainment venue.
Unlike many large and popular venues across the nation, the naming rights of the Joe Louis Arena have yet to be sold to a major corporation. Instead, the Joe Louis Arena is named in honor of a legendary Detroit icon and native, boxer Joe Louis. Its hometown name and lack of corporate affiliation has by no means hampered the Joe Louis Arena schedule. The Joe Louis Arena Detroit annually hosts a number of concerts, family shows and professional and college sports events.
