The Fabulous Hip-Hop Event is the brainchild of Sulaiman The WordSmith. The event will kick off on Friday, 11/12/2010 @ 9pm-2am. The Location is 5e Gallery, 2661 Michigan Ave, Detroit, MI . Between I-75 & 14th - S. Side of Road. Contact: info822@thewordsmith.info for inquiries. General Admission: $7.00. Open Mic Artist Admission: $5.00. About The Artists & Venue

Sulaiman The WordSmith

Sulaiman (pronounced Su-Lay-Mon) is a Hip-Hop Artists best known by his stage name "Sulaiman The WordSmith". In 2006 he began performing in his home town of Detroit Michigan where he became known for his soul full inclusion of spirituality into his social-political poems. In the summer of 2010 “The WordSmith” made his debut release with two Hip-Hop singles BLAST THE DEVIL BACK and THE DAY. While Blast The Devil Back catches audiences with militant lyrics: “Drop a Clip in the Glock / Blast The Blue Back / Blast The Devil Back”, The Day subdues listeners with a deep mellow to raspy voice of love & inspiration. Blast The Devil Back is produced by Nick Speed. The Day is produced by BlackMan. Both singles earned critical acclaim for the WordSmith's catchy and controversial style of writing and delivery.

Nick Speed

Nick Speed is a Hip-Hop producer and rapper that began his career as a pre-teen while working at a Washington DC Radio Station where he had the opportunity to interview then President Ronald Regan. While still in high school, Speed also spent a significant amount of time with DJ House Shoes, who assisted them with his first production experiment. Since hen Nick Speed has gone on to produce for the likes of 50 Cent, Tupac Shakur, Lloyd Banks, M.O.P., Talib Kweli, Phat Kat, Musiq Soulchild and countless music artist in the Detroit Metro.

AL Luv

Al was raised on Detroit's East-Side and was inspired at a young age while listening to Hip-Hop artist such as Notorious B.I.G. 2 Pac, Outkast, and Jay Z, to name a few. He started writing music at the age of 9 which lead to a youth radio slot called ''Talk Boy''. In 2007 Luv released an LP Album tilted “Tha Hand of Da Mitt” with the help of Management Firm of James E. Woods and Associates. SideNotes

SideNotes is a Hip-Hop duo from Detroit comprised of B-Side and Mr. Cliffnote. The team began working together in June 2008 and have since released a mixtape called “The SideNotes Mixtape Vol. 1”. The SideNotes are currently working on the release of their debut LP “The SideNotes Experience”. The SideNotes Experience includes production from DJ U.N.I., Geno X.O, Mike Lamb, Ro-D, Dot Terror, Mighty Wyte, DJ Dez, and singing from Ke'Note .

Mr. Cliffnote is a veteran to the game with 2 albums to his credit “Geno X.O. presents Mr. Cliffnote” and a second effort with the group Double A which is comprised of Mr. CliffNote, Fat Ray, Ali, Akil & Massive. B-Side released his debut album “Vertigo” and a mixtape in 2004 titled “Strongarm Taktix”. Mr. CliffNote can currently be found rocking Detroit’s Rap-Battle scenes while B-Side is currently working on a mixtape called “A Side Called B”, featuring Mr. CliffNote and other respected Detroit artists.


Piper Carter

Detroit Native, Piper Carter is a freelance Photographer and resident Photographer at the 5e Gallery in Detroit. Piper’s work includes The Tyra Bank's VH1 show “The Shot”. OK! Magazine, TV Guide, US Weekly, Sirius Radio, XM Radio, British Elle, New York Times, Trace, Spin, Def Jam Music Group, McCann Erickson, Candies, The Ad Council, Vogue Magazine, the Poiret Exhibition, and countless other works of film art. She is also a graduate of FIT with a BFA in Photography & Digital Media. In 2009 Carter was featured on the July cover of African American Family magazine. 5e Gallery

The 5E Gallery is a non-profit visual art and hip-hop culture gallery located in the Historic Corktown District of Detroit. 5E was founded by DJ Sicari as an outlet for the Detroit art and music communities to express themselves, learn, and grow. Our mission is to increase public awareness of the visual arts, music and community through exhibitions and educational programs.

The gallery has become a melting pot for Detroit and a home away from home for hip-hop culture from around the globe. The concentrated energy that fuels 5E Gallery has been mostly inspired by hip-hop culture. “Its who we are, its our way of life”.
