Dennis Collier
Dennis’ introduction to fly tying came in a cardboard box labeled “Basic Fly Tying Kit” which Santa left under the Christmas tree one year. www.dennis-collier.com. Dennis was a fly fishing guide and instructor, and his stream knowledge elevated him as an Umpqua Feather Merchants contract fly designer. Dennis created the Bread N’ Butter Bugger, Crippled Callibaetis and Crippled Green Drake He contributes to various magazines including Southwest Fly Fishing magazine.

Jay Zimmerman

Jay Zimmerman is a commercial fly designer for Umpqua Feather Merchants and has developed flies for tarpon as well as trout, carp and bass. His Texas Ringworm bass fly was awarded “Best in Show” at the International Fly Tackle Dealer show in 2011. Jay has written two books. In Neck Deep: Stories from a fisherman and upcoming will be his new “The Top Ten Guide to Fly Fishing (Lyons Press, 2012) due out in October, 2012. Jay is a contract tier for Umpqua Feather Merchants and created the Backstabber, Banksia Bug, Clown Shoe Caddis, Clown Shoe Sally, the Geezus Lizard and Texas Ringworm!

Rick Takahashi and Herman de Gala, with special guest Jerry Hubka

Rick Takahashi had $.25 in his pocket when he entered a hardware store that stocked a few items of fishing tackle. He’s been tying now for over 50 years. Today Rick writes and illustrates for Fly Fisherman Magazine. Together Rick and Jerry Hubka produced their first book “Modern Midges, Tying and Fishing The World’s Most Effective Patterns.”
Rick is part of the Umpqua Feather Merchants family. His designs include: Drowned Hopper, Tak’s Crystal Chironomid, Tak’s Emerger, Tak’s Go2Nymphs and Tak’s Holo Chironomid.

Joining Rick today is Jerry Hubka, and together they will be autographing their book, Modern Midges!

Herman de Gala:

Herman deGala is an avid fly fisherman and fly tyer he also the developed the highly successful website
www. flytyingclips.com. Herman has appeared in numerous articles in the Denver Post and many of the current fly fishing magazines. Herman is part of the Umpqua Feather Merchants Team with his CDC Callibaetis Nymph and Hula Damsel

Chris Schrantz

Chris started fly fishing for Bluegill at age 10. He had managed St. Peter's Fly Shop. Today Chris is a construction manager for FlyWater,Inc. where they specialize in aquatic conservation and river restoration. Chris is on pro staff for R.L. Winston Rod Co. and he is an Umpqua Feather Merchants royalty tier, creating the Callibaetis Nymph, the Platte River Spider and Quill Body Sally.

*Al Noraker 2:30 pm at the Fishing Theatre Stage. Al is a 2-time World Record holder for lake trout. He swears it’s because of his flies! Al is also on the Umpqua Feather Merchants team with his creation…The Thing A Ma Jig!

Dave Student

Dave’s fly tying roots are in trout flies that began well over 40 years ago. His true passion has turned to saltwater. I work with many of the Keys guides to design/improve upon saltwater baits. Quoting Charlie Meyers of The Denver Post “In the often-futile pursuit of the elusive fish known as the permit, fly patterns are granted an uncommon degree of importance” … Dave is a contract Umpqua Feather Merchants Fly tier having created the Megalopsicle, and Tarpon Tapas…with more on the way.

Eric Pettine
Eric has been fly fishing, guiding and fly tying for over 50 years. Eric presently guides for St. Peter’s Fly Shop in Fort Collins. He has written two books on fly fishing, River Wrecks and the North Platte River Journal. Eric contributes to many magazines. He had written a fishing column for four years for the “Coloradoan” Newspaper and participated in several radio shows on fly fishing. He is on pro staff for Scientific Angler. To top off to his contributions to the fly fishing world, Eric too is on the Umpqua Fly designer team…check out Eric’s Midge (Hi-vis), Pyrite Caddis Larva Tungsten, Tungsten & Orange Soft Hackle

* Charlie Craven . Meet and Greet Charlie at Authors Corner. Not only is he a prolific author; Charlie is a prolific fly designer with Umpqua Feather Merchants. Charlie created with John Barr the B/C Dropper Hopper. Charlie also created the Baby Boy Hopper, Charlie’s Mysis, Double Gonga, Juju Baetis, Juju PMD, Jujubee Midge, Poison Tung, Soft Hackle Emerger, Two Bit Hooker and many more.

Dennis Miller

Dennis is a Colorado native and has been fly fishing for the past 30 years and started tying in the 80;s.
Dennis lives in Almont in the summers where he is the assistant manager of the Willowfly Angler’s at Three Rivers Resort. He is an Umpqua Feather Merchants Pro tier with the fly called the D-Midge.

* Pat Dorsey will be across at Authors Corner. Pat is an author and is a fly designer for Umpqua Feather Merchants. Pat’s creations include the Black Beauty, Mercury Blood Midge, Mercury series, Medallion Midge Pupa, Tungsten Mercury Caddis and so many many more.

Greg Garcia

Greg grew up in Albuquerque, NM then moved to Colorado. He got the fishing bug and started to guide part time. In 1995 he helped open Trout's Dry Goods & Fly Fishing until 2005. Today you can find Greg at Charlie’s Fly Box. Greg is a contract fly tyer for Umpqua Feather Merchants, and is best known for the Rojo Midge Emerger. Greg also produced the Mothers Day Caddis, Mini Hots, and the Grande Rojo Chironomid. Greg is on pro staff for R.L. Winston Rod Co.

* John Barr at Authors Corner. Meet the creator of The Copper John. John is an author and is a fly designer for Umpqua Feather Merchants which include: Graphic Caddis, Cranefly Larva, Bouface GB, Slump Buster and many more.
