Spend the morning creating your own original hand painted paste papers. Following a demonstration and warm up students will have the opportunity make a variety of papers for use in book arts projects, or to make boxes, baskets, mats, lamp shades and more. Materials: Included. Supplemental supply list provided upon registration (things to bring from home). Paste Papers are exquisitely patterned papers. The term âpaste paperâ refers to a method of applying acrylic or tempera pigment mixed in a paste medium onto damp paper. Once the color is brushed onto the paper, a variety of around-the-house tools, such as combs or cardboard, are used to move the paste around and make designs. Always a surprise! The technique is one of the earliest methods used to embellish the paper surface. From the late 16th through to the 18th century paste paper was predominately used as book covers and end sheets. This class was originally scheduled for February. It has been postponed until the 3rd or 4th week in March. The March 20th date in the session below is tentative.
