2012 Youth Theatre Program at Playwright Theatre
2012 Youth Program at Vintage Theatre
To educate, inspire and provoke creative thinking
Through the use of new and classical works, Vintage Theatre's Children program will establish an environment that will foster and support the creative process of Denver's youth with the goal of establishing a deep appreciation for the art of live theatre among the participants and their families. The Children's Program strives to create a program in which talent can be nurtured, encouraged and trained in the pursuit of a professional career or in the pursuit of a fun activity.
Classes will run on continuum bases of eight week increments, for a total of five (5) sessions per calendar year. The primary focus of the program will be the acting aspect of theatre. Students will work on improvisation, scene work and monologues. From there the class will develop into other aspects of theatre such as production, design, concept and evaluation, directing, and critique and each class, scene and critique will be catered to the individual student's goals. All classes will culminate in a public showcase. Students will also be presented with opportunities, performance and desired base considered, to work with Vintage Theatre's Season Productions.
Classes will be held every Saturday from 1:00-3:30 p.m. The age focus of the program will be between the ages of 10-17.
The goal is to engage students and teachers in the program as the next step in their art education and to help encourage them to become active participants in the Denver Theatre Community. Also, as the program proceeds, to take the students into an environment that cultivates a respect and appreciation for the arts and for theatre. To create a place where it is not about what we can teach them but what they can learn from each other and what we can learn from them.
Helping students to understand the collaborative power of theatre not only furthers their love of the arts, but furthers their confidence, passion, and curiosity in life.
