Humanist Book Discussion: The Family

Think that the power of religious fundamentalists is on the decline after the recent election? If so, think again, suggests Jeff Sharlet. In his book, The Family: The Secret Fundamentalism at the Heart of American Power, Sharlet reveals details about a secretive Christian political organization that has considerable influence in our government. Sharlet's account of the group was gleaned through time spent living among its members and from extensive research in the group's historical documents. Sharlet is a contributing editor for Harper's and Rolling Stone, and a visiting research scholar at New York University's Center for Religion and Media. The meeting will be held at a private home in east-central Denver, near the intersection of Colorado Blvd. and Alameda Ave. The address will be emailed several days prior to the event to those who have RSVP'd Yes.
