Event details: Climbing Mount Kilimanjaro - Not Just Because It's There

Over the last 20 years, board members, family and friends of the Golden-based non-profit organization, AfricAid, have used the climb of Mount Kilimanjaro as an opportunity to raise over one million dollars in support of medical and educational needs in Tanzania. Several of them will describe how they have combined their passion for adventure with helping provide for the needs of others.
As part of this presentation, you'll see video footage taken over 20 years ago of the climb by two amazing AfricAid board members, along with more recent footage of the mountain. This will be a unique opportunity for you to see and understand the climate (as well as video technology!) changes that have occurred in the years since. You will also get the chance to see first-hand how successful organizations "pass the torch" from one generation to the next through a presentation by the teen-aged son of a board member who climbed Kili with his dad in May to raise funds for a solar power project at a rural Tanzanian school. This wonderful young man has already taken up the torch of service, and is an inspiration to us all! Please join us for what promises to be an interesting and educational evening.
