DO NOT go to the voodoo lounge.

In Lawrence, The Bottleneck is another good, small venue. Probably holds just over 400 people. The Uptown Theater in KC and Liberty Hall in Lawrence are both great mid sized venues

The Record Bar would be a great venue. I'd agree with the idea of Freddy T's out of laziness as it's close to home but it has a terrible layout for seeing a show.

Knuckleheads, KCLive and Grinders (Ben Folds just played there) would be great venues if you wish to play during the warmer months. Voodoo Lounge and The Beaumont would be great venues during the colder months.

Sandstone would be great for me (only 10 min away), but it's a huge venue that's usually for the national touring acts. I'm not familiar enough with the venues around to say which would be the greatest. I've heard good things about Knuckleheads. Corb Lund plays there when he comes through. Community Christian Church has a nice auditorium, seats perhaps 350. I've seen several concerts there and they've been good.

I think the VooDoo lounge/Harrah's Casino in Kansas City would be cool. My husband and I would be first in line for tickets :) We love you Jonathan!!! Freddy T's in Olathe would be quite cool and alot closer for us :) If you are looking for an outdoor venue, Zona Rosa at I-29 and Barry Rd has outdoor concerts. We cant wait to hear where you will be Jonathan!

I'd also recommend staying in the main entertainment corridor which runs from the River Market on the north end, down to the Plaza on the south end. There are venues out in Johnson County or North of the River but you'll lose a lot of people, on one side of the city or the other, if you choose some suburban outlying venue.

The indoorish outdoor stage at KC Live would be cool. Uptown Theatre or Beaumont would be fine too. Mostly it depends on the size of venue you're considering and the type of atmosphere you prefer to play in. BB's Lawnside BBQ would be another option - great BBQ and kind of a quirky music venue but they have LOTS of live music there. Davey's Uptown Rambler and The Levee are two other good options, which would probably allow for cheaper ticket prices than say Beaumont or the Uptown Theater.

Just do not go to the Sandstone Ampitheater. Uptown would be nice! That's were I'm seeing Yes! Do an all ages conert too, because my family wants to see you. Whole family. Only a three person family, but that's three more tickets!

The Beaumont is popular - ostensibly a country bar/venue in Westport (one of several major bar destinations in the city), it's got lots of standing room and a decent stage, and ends up playing host to a lot of touring acts - I've seen TMBG and Flogging Molly there. I've never been there, but I have heard of more and more acts at the Record Bar, the other side of Westport. Can't tell you more than that, though. The Uptown is a great old theater, if I recall correctly fixed seating with balcony. Saw Alice Cooper a year or so ago here. Want to do an outdoor show? Crossroads KC is a fairly new outdoor venue concocted by some locals in the midtown area of KC. Alas, I have not yet caught a show here yet, so hopefully someone else can fill in more. Thing is, I know I'm missing dozens of other venues I can't think of right now, and that's not even counting those in nearby (20 minute drive, so not quite KC Metro, but close enough for touring acts) Lawrence, KS. I also hate to admit it, but I have no idea what sort of turnout you expect for your shows - I may be seriously under- or over-shooting capacity-wise.
