Join Barack at the Open Convention

I wanted you to be the first to hear the news.

At the Democratic National Convention next month, we're going to kick off the general election with an event that opens up the political process the same way we've opened it up throughout this campaign.
Barack has made it clear that this is your convention, not his.

On Thursday, August 28th, he's scheduled to formally accept the Democratic nomination in a speech at the convention hall in front of the assembled delegates.
Instead, Barack will leave the convention hall and join more than 75,000 people for a huge, free, open-air event where he will deliver his acceptance speech to the American people.

It's going to be an amazing event, and Barack would like you to join him. Free tickets will become available as the date approaches, but we've reserved a special place for a few of the people who brought us this far and who continue to drive this campaign.

If you make a donation of $5 or more between now and midnight on July 31st, you could be one of 10 supporters chosen to fly to Denver and spend two days and nights at the convention, meet Barack backstage, and watch his acceptance speech in person. Each of the ten supporters who are selected will be able to bring one guest to join them. Make a donation now and you could have a front row seat to history.

We'll follow up with more details on this and other convention activities as we get closer, but please take a moment and pass this note to someone you know who might like to be there.

It will be an event you'll never forget.

    Thank you,

    David

Tomorrow is the official kickoff of Vote for Change, an unprecedented 50-state voter registration and mobilization drive. In over 100 cities across America, from Anchorage, Alaska to Miami, Florida, grassroots supporters will hit the streets to register voters. With events planned in every single state, no matter where you live, you can find an event near you.

As Democratic Governor Kathleen Sebelius of Kansas explained,"This could change the face of American politics for decades to come."

Our efforts across the country have already yielded incredible results. According to a recent Associated Press survey, over 3.5 million people registered to vote in the first three months of 2008. Now we're expanding our approach to every single state, as part of a sustained, six-month effort that could reshape the electoral map.

Most events will begin in the late morning or early afternoon, and will run approximately four hours. No prior experience is necessary, and materials and training will be provided at each location.

There is no better way to start your weekend tomorrow, and no more important work to be done right now than bringing more voters, and more voices, into the political process.

    Find an event near you.

    Gotcha

Did you see the debate Wednesday night?

If you did, you saw more gotcha politics and distractions than questions about the pressing issues affecting our country.

In fact, it took more than 45 minutes before Barack was asked about the economy, health care, or foreign policy.

Regrettably, Senator Clinton seemed all too comfortable with that type of debate. She's running a 100% negative campaign in Pennsylvania, taking every opportunity to make personal and discredited attacks against Senator Obama.

You can send a message that politics doesn't have to be played this way.

Make your first donation today, and someone who's already given will match whatever amount you decide to give. You can double your impact, and you'll even get to see the name and town of the fellow supporter matching your first online gift.

Will you make a $25 donation now?

    https://donate.barackobama.com/match

Senator Clinton's false, negative attacks are exactly the kind of say-anything, do-anything politics that the American people are tired of.

That's why polls show that the majority of Americans think she's running the most negative campaign, and 58% of voters do not find her honest or trustworthy.

Barack Obama wants to end the politics of division and distraction in Washington so we can bring about real change for ordinary Americans.

The stakes are too high to play the same old games. More than 1.3 million supporters have responded to Barack's message of change, and with your help we can reach 1.5 million by May 6th.

Make a donation of any amount today, and it will be matched by a previous donor who has pledged to double your impact:

No one understands being broke better than I do. It is a real sacrifice when I scrape a few pennies together for the Campaign. Getting Barack elected is more important to me than some other things I would be doing with my few pennies, so I am more than happy to donate to the campaign. I actually feel bad that I can't do anymore than I have been able to do thus far. I know in order for my situation to change at the grass roots, a change needs to be made in the White House. My little $25.00 donation is a small investment for my life and my country. I would have given it regardless of the chance to voice my opinions up close and personal. To be given this opportunity for a token contribution to the Campaign at Barack's expense is commendable. The opportunity would be worth more than money to me. I ain't mad at Bonnie. Just wish it was me. Hope I get a chance to join her. Barack brings a lot to the table. I know being there will be quite rewarding for 4 more lucky people.

well first of all why must i make a donation in order to meet and or hear mr obahma ? meeting him and listening to him should not have to cost anything! asking for donations is rude. where exactly does he think we all are getting the money to donate? the economy is in a crisis.... if he wants to come here again., and meet and greet and speak., do it in an open forum for all to come and view., i am so tired of this election already., between , hilary and her lies., obahma and his pastor, and mcCain who is in the middle somewhere....... i really am having a hard time deciding who should run this country!!!! everyone is offering everything now, who do you believe? who do you trust?.., i had my heart and mind set on voting for mr., obahma, up until a few weeks ago... now i am really not sure., i would love to meet him., face to face , and look in his eyes while he speaks, so i can get an idea if he is "for real" or not.... let him come to las vegas and convince us!!!!! sincerely, donna digiacomo . thanks for hearing me out.

David Plouffe just sent out this message...

    Dinner with Barack

    Friend --

Too many political fundraisers are hosted by Washington lobbyists and filled with representatives of special interests.

    Our campaign is different.

Our funding comes from a movement of more than one million people giving whatever they can afford -- and Barack wants to sit down with supporters like you.

If you've ever thought about making a donation to join our campaign, now is the time.

In the next week, four supporters will be selected for a different kind of fundraising dinner. And we're reserving two of those seats for new donors like you.

Make a donation in any amount between now and 11:59 pm EDT on Monday, March 31st, and you could join Barack and three other supporters for an intimate dinner for five:

    https://donate.barackobama.com/dinner

Our movement is changing the way campaigns are funded.

This campaign has never taken contributions from Washington lobbyists or political action committees.

More than one million donors have demonstrated that this election is about more than a candidate -- it's about each of us having a personal stake in the future of American politics.

This dinner is an opportunity for you to sit down with Barack and your fellow supporters and talk about the issues that matter to you.

Get the kind of treatment other politicians reserve for special interests. Make a donation in the next week, and you could share your story and your ideas with Barack in person:

    https://donate.barackobama.com/dinner

With every donation, we're building a movement to change American politics.

Help the movement grow, and own a piece of this campaign today.

    Thanks for your support,

    David

Donate and Be One of the Million

We are within striking distance of something historic: one million people donating to this campaign.

This unprecedented foundation of support has built a campaign that has shaken the status quo and proven that ordinary people can compete in a political process too often dominated by special interests.

But it's going to take an incredible organizing effort to bring in 100,000 new donors before March 4th.

Be a part of this historic effort -- make a donation of at least $25 now and receive an "I Am One of the Million" t-shirt.

We can only send one one T-shirt per donation, but you can make multiple donations if you'd like more than one T-shirt.

Please donate now and be one of the million.
