Smooth and soulful...concert goers into Kem, Eric Benet, Maxwell, or Kenny Latimore will like this performer. Check him out at www.anthonydixon.com
Anthony Dixon is a songwriter-vocalist who has worked with Tyler Perry, Diana Ross, Jennifer Holliday, Cissy Houston, and Melba Moore. He was born in Glendale, Arizona; but grew up in sunny Panama City, Florida, among his musically inclined relatives. Exposed constantly to their talents, it was inevitable that he would soon develop a passion for music. Come with me as we journey back in time to a southern Pentecostal sanctuary. Here we find an unassuming little boy posing a question in song, "What Color Is God's Skin?" This heart-capturing first performance won the favor of many ears in his hometown that day. It was there in that southern church that the foundation for a lifelong devotion to music was laid. As he began to perform more frequently, he discovered the magic in his gift. Anthony believes "Music can heal hearts, ease a troubled mind, and bring joy to a sad spirit. It touches deep emotions and puts us all a little closer to knowing what heaven must feel like." He is a member of the Shi-Adayzi Band and has appeared on the morning show, Good Day Atlanta. He was also part of the revival of the musical "Purlie" with Melba Moore, Sherman Hemsley, and Robert Giluame. He has sung backup for New Kid's On the Block, and was the winner of the Georgia Music Industry Association's Urban competition for songwriters. He has performed at Ashford & Simpson's Sugar Bar, Tavern on the Green, the Russian Tea Room, Nells, Makors and has written songs for the Barrio Boyzz on the Latin Record Label, Fonovisa. He appeared in Atlanta's Alliance Theater's production of the musical "CHESS," directed by the brilliant David Bell. He has also played in "Ain't Misbehavin" twice, once with the Theatre Arts Guild of Atlanta and once with the North Carolina Stage Ensemble. Anthony now resides in New York City where he continues to pursue a career in the entertainment industry. Anthony Dixon, singer extraordinaire, is an artist you won't soon forget.
