Pointless site. PUSA making no effort to come, despite Shetland 'winning' by a large margin. How does this differ from us simply phoning their agent and making the arrangements in the usual fashion....? Answer: It doesn't.
  • JamesStewart
Why do we need to beg anyone? Shetland is easily capable of hosting a gig. Easily. All that the disclaimer says is that a venue needs to be agreed on with the Presidents, it doesn't stage that they need a 50metre state with HD TV's backstage or anything. Maybe they'll be quite happy with a simple little Shetland gig! We can only wait and see. I hope I get to meet them in Ireland and talk with them about it.

Yay Lerwick Won!! Oh crap, just read the disclaimer after the results!! Boooo.. Somebody phone up and beg radio one or virgin or something.. I'll come!! At 2:00 PM (PST) on Monday, March 3, 2008 the top 5 cities win the opportunity to host a performance by PUSA in their city, subject to PUSA’s agent’s ability to find a venue that will: (i) provide and pay for Artist’s requirements (including, without limitation, payment of performance fee based on artist market value [must be negotiated with artist agent] to PUSA and fulfill PUSA’s production requirements, as provided in PUSA’s rider, to be issued to the venue under separate cover); and (ii) fulfill all of its obligations pursuant to the agreement to be issued by PUSA (or its agent) under separate written cover.

Ok. I've voted for Lerwick.. Can't wait to see if you succeed, that'll be a great gig, will have to work out how to get there..

He's so dumb, yeah dumb like a fox. Who walked the streets of Chicago like Nessie in the loch? Parked his car within eyesight of the destination, still he did the walking tour as if in contemplation. Cactus better get baktus, can I get a witness? Step to me and you'll get the...

...why are you still here? I don't understand what you're trying to achieve by posting in here. Come over to the Presidents forums for a good chat mate http://www.presidentsrock.com

James – please pick from the following menu of zingers. 1.) So is this like Freaky Friday & you’re me now & I’m you? & now I say ‘It’s called the power of community’ & you say ‘Whatever Barry Bonds’, etc. ? 2.) The program is called “Quasi-Vote-O” & you can download it free at www.funwithrubes.com. (& I swear to Groundskeeper Willie, if you actually type that into your browser, I will never forgive you.) 3.) Could I see a show of hands of people out there who still think (after a rant that started with the 1st president of Indonesia, ended at Fabio with stops along the way that included Clancy Brown & Mario van-freakin’ Peebles) that I’m serious? Because I am. As a heart attack. But if I COULD be serious for just a moment, if anyone here needs a witty rejoinder, I’m begging you, please ask me for one. Because …I mean …damn. Or at least ask JGL or robert57, they seem like they might be on the trolley. But whatever you do, do NOT converse with biz_ness. He’s got serious mental problems. And also (don’t tell him you heard this from me) I heard he’s so dumb, that this one time, he drove 800 miles roundtrip into another country to see 2 concerts that both ended up being cancelled. Can you believe that!? Get on the trolley, rube!!!!

Cactus man gots ta straighten' up his mohawk, all the kirkin's o the tartin's they be startin' to gawk, PHJ feelin a wee bit alone, toss your taber at the Barney stone. Presidents of the 'what?' take a guess, I be layin' down the facts like its nobody's...
  • cactus337
Aw, PHJ, don't sweat biz_ness. He's just one of those poly-syllabic, intellectual elites sitting up in his Ivory Tower casting aspersions on us common folk. He's simply referring to those curvy lines that you probably use to make frowny & smiley faces. But his point is well taken that the text enclosed therein is intended to be read. Thanks for the heads up, though. I clearly had no idea he was Canadian. But even though you can't claim the magnanimous James Doohan as a native son, buck up little shaver, you guys still make one hell of a good cellophane adhesive tape. ;-)
  • biz_ness
Hey, uh, PHJ...Anyone ever tell you to read whats inside the parentheses?
  • JamesStewart
Presumably from ticket sales. I'd imagine a band as huge as PUSA would need to be in the Clickimin, it can hold upto 1400 people. I guess that the reason to do this is that even if we don't win and end up outside of the top 5, PUSA can still see they have fanbases in the small communities.
  • PHJ
James Doohan was Canadian dumbass!! But jee I guess they hide that kinda info in books..... Anyway where do funds for fees, accommodation etc etc for these guys come from if they come to Shetland? I'm all for it as I am a big fan, but you've got to read the fine print.... we could just offer them a lump of cash - whats the point of this bit?? Any band will play in Shetland (exempt SLF for some reason) if the money is right.

Hey cactus, what computer program did you use to register the last 20-30 votes in fort wayne?
  • cactus337
Lucky Charms!? Irish!? WHAT??? WHAT?????? You see, the humor is derived from my misappropriating Lucky Charms (& by innuendo) leprechauns to Scotland. Let's see if I can come up with an analogous comeback. If you were to say to me "Whatever, Sukarno. Why don't you float down the Ganges on the lost arc of the covenant while having an illicit extramarital affair," thereby confusing Indiana with Indonesia, Indonesia with India, India with Indiana Jones, & Indiana Jones with the 1972 classic "Me & Mrs. Jones" recorded by soul legend Billy Paul. This would enrage me as a "learned" (pronounced with one syllable) man of letters until it dawned that you were putting me on or "taking the piss", as you might say. After which, we'd share a hearty laugh followed by an awkward silence and some post-guffaw, filler chuckling. And even if you're not technically Highlanders, I'd totally say I was if I were you, 'cause that movie kicked ass. Highlander's all "I want the prize" & the dude who looks like the Terminator's all "but there can only be one of us" & 007's all "I'm from Egypt, or Spain, or somethin'" & then Highlander's all "Heaaaatherrr". But then it turned out they were from outerspace, & then Mario Van Peebles showed up & was like "I can't believe they're still making these movies" & then Fabio showed up & was all "I can't believe ees naht butter."
  • robert57
JGL :-),,,, James Doohan was the actor who played 'Scotty' in the original Start Trek Series.

Venezuela & UK got great fan bases isn't it? hope you get a concert as well. Saludos
  • jonosandilands
    yarh!
  • JammyGrammyLammy
Go on I'm intrigued who's James Doohan? I realise JA's geography isn't really that great and accusing you of coming from Illinois is probably a good reason, but we're not highlanders. Lucky charms are supposed to be from Ireland, sweetheart, your only a few hundred miles out. Here's a small island hoping for something special.
  • SueDaQue
Oh Yisss! Come ta Shetland, whit a spree! Brilliant!
  • cactus337
Don't get your knickers in a twist there, Highlander. No one's gonna steal your lucky charms. (Yeah, I know. That's why it's funny.) I'm just yankin' yer chain. I'm sure the Presidents will rock James Doohan Memorial Hall. (Yeah, I know he's Canadian. Again, that's what makes it funny.)
  • JamesStewart
Obviously you're not going to listen to reason so there is no point in continuing. As it stands you're still getting PUSA, what's the problem?
  • cactus337
    Whatever, Barry Bonds.
  • JamesStewart
