I missed you the last time you were here. It would be awesome if you came to Seattle again. Though i live in Tacoma and would love for you to come there, i would make the drive to seattle if you came this year!!!

This totally needs to happen again. Sometime this spring would be killer.

He's coming to Seattle again: http://eventful.com/events/E0-001-002325922-4
  • Oh, it's on. I've got an 8 PM show scheduled for Saturday night at The Jewelbox Theater. Thanks to everyone who offered ideas and suggestions...

I just talked to the Dubliner Pub in Fremont. They didn't book anyone this weekend because they thought bumbershoot would leech off too many patrons. Leaving the path open for us maybe... (206) 548-1508 Irish / Jazz / R&B Contact: Ben
  • Dudes and dudesses, this is totally going to work. I’ve gotten a few places from a few people, and I’m just trying to figure out some of the details. God bless you, you beautiful internet. I’ll post an update when I figure out what’s going on - thank you so much to everyone who’s pitching in.

I'm still on the case, but it could be a bit tricky to get a smaller venue (a la coffee house'ish which could hold around 100 people) as I actually live on the east side of the state so I don't have direct connections. I'm heading over there tomorrow and am in contact with a friend who should hopefully know the right people to make this happen. HOWEVER, in the meantime, is there anybody else that lives in the Seattle area and knows of any good potential venues, downtown Seattle or elsewhere, where this could possibly be setup and made a done deal??

FYI in an effort to spread the word I posted this on the Seattle Craigslist. If you know of some other online places to get the word out, then, by all means, go get the word out there!

Looks like he is doing that, but is also willing to do a separate event just for the demanders here on this page! All he needs is a venue.... got venue? :-)

DUUUUUUUUUUUUUUDe! zomgwtfbbq! You're finally coming here! I soooo cannot wait--quite literally! I really wanna see you perform now, which is why I'm listening to your songs right now! But I'm a little confused: aren't you supposed to be performing w/ Hodgeman @ Bumbershoot 2006 for 826? What's the deal?

@dsimmelink: Jonathan doesn't have your email address, but you can contact him directly using the Contact link on his site.
  • Yes, so I posted on my site but I'll mention it here too - and you may have already received an email. I'll be in Seattle for this weekend and if someone can find a smallish, mellowish venue that wants me to do an acoustic show on Saturday night I will play it. I see that dsimmelink is already on it. Sweet! email me via my website if you've got an idea.

Jonathan, My good friend who lives in that area is connected to a fairly big promoter for the area. To tell you the truth, they primarily deal with hip-hop type groups but regardless they have connections to tons of clubs and venues in the area. I will give my buddy a call as soon as I get a free second from work to see if we could possibly do some last minute planning for Saturday night! Besides, if you just play Baby Got Back you'll be "in" for sure! Besides, I believe Sir Mix A Lot actually lives in the Seattle area so perhaps we could get some sort of collaboration going!! =) I hope you have my email through this eventful deal, if not let me know or I will get in touch with you through your website!

I got the chance to meet Mr. Coulton at Powell's in Portland, when he was with John Hodgman. He is a wonderful performer, and quite possibly the most brilliant humor songwriter I've ever encountered. His lyrics break you utterly, his songwriting style is catchy and earwormy, and he is a fantastic musician. I'd personally pay for his plane tickets to get him to do a full set out here some time.
  • stumax
I'd be happy to help coordinate this. Anyone want to join me?

Description
I've been a fan of Jonathan Coulton for a year and a half or so now, and have yet to see him live. He came to Seattle a while ago for a book promotion with John Hodgman, but a set of tricky circumstances prevented me from going. Still, it would be pretty awesome if he could make it out again.
