So..... 224 as of Summer '08. What will it take, Wil? We would love to see you. How about a book signing? A reading? Come visit the bay, Wil!
  • zytka
Seeing that Wil said it would only take 100 demands to get him up here and we reached that number almost two years ago, I'm not terribly hopeful of seeing him up here ever. In fact, today he blogged about an Eventful demand for him in San Diego which he'll go to. That prompted me to check this again. I'm one of the 215 counted above but, honestly, I'm not sure how excited I'd be about it all these months later.

I think we need to get back in the game!! Atlanta and Boston are beating us Bay...come on we are the Rocking Bay Area!!!! We have the Golden Gate Bridge, We have Wine Country, We have Silicon Valley...Geek capitol USA...We are all geeks inside!!! Email your hearts out!!!
  • TNG_Chick
Well, that's 200 demands. Any news?
  • megan322
Okay....So it's been awhile and there are offically almost 200 demands. Wil, where are you? Come and see us!
  • manwreck
Dude, if everyone else just wants to talk TNG all night, I will personally bring my chips and a table and we can play some no-limit Hold 'Em -- no problemo. Not that I don't love TNG... But personally I'd rather talk DRM or DMCA before TNG. That's just me.. I have at least 5 friends who will gladly drive down from Sacramento to see this.
  • Alchstar
    I'll come if he does!
  • TNG_Chick
I hope to see something happen with this demand, soon.

I accually am the event coordinator for the Fremont Borders. Your coordinator and mine need to talk. We are a ton of geeks up here, and would love to have him in. Have them call the Fremont location and ask to speek to Jennifer.
  • StarkRG
I have an in with the events coordinator at the Borders in San Rafael (I work there, hence the "in"). I don't know if that's a venue you'd like doing again, but it's there.
  • PerlDiver
Have you done a JaG signing as an EFF benefit yet? (I just read it this week; well done, sir!) $5 hell; I'll give you $15 plus an autographed copy of Weblogs and even sign your "A Matter of Perspective" script if you saved it. ;-)

I love the End Game in Oakland suggestion. That is a great place, and a cool location. Very convenient. right off of BART and also parking nearby too. Plus it is a cool area of Oakland.
  • juvernaz
Oooh, yes, Green Apple is a great idea! Coolest bookstore in SF.
  • andyangel
I'm demandor number 101! Bring you butt up here Will. There are so many cool bookstores in the city, i am going to start canvassing some of my favorites. The one I'd reccomend is Green Apple bookstores. They do lots of interesting readings/events.
  • penn42
Hope this isn't a double post, but I have a venue in Oakland you can use, Wil. It's a game store, and we have lots of space. Yours for the asking. Just lemme know!
  • johalloran
    Ding, ding, ding!!!! 100 folks!!!
  • juvernaz
I loved the Just a Geek reading / booksigning at the San Francisco Borders back last year or whenever that was. For a repeat, I would definitely show up again, stand in line, act all goofy, say stupid fangirl stuff, etc. I would even contribute $5 like Brian suggested. Can we set up a PayPal donation button thingy or something?
  • Zeliah
Count me in. I would be more than happy to pitch in, so we can get Wil over here to the Bay Area. Let me know what I can do to help.
  • brian
Only 21 signups to go, folks! Have you:

  • Posted an announcement on Craigslist about this Demand

  • Emailed all of your friends and relatives and co-workers who might like to do a Wil Wheaton event

  • Posted this URL to DIGG.com and gotten everyone you know to DIGG it

  • Mentioned this Demand on your blog

  • Posted a Sticker for this Demand on your blog or website

  • Done whatever else you can do to get more folks signed up

Let's make this happen this month! Who's with me?

  • YvetteK
I'm voting for a reading with writing Q&A. Non-poker focus. Sign me up to assist with venue-finding and publicity when (not if) we reach your threshold.
  • ipsafictura
I'm person #61 to demand it! Yay. I sent Wil Wheaton the one and only fan letter I've ever written, and he sent me a very sweet response, with a very funny joke in it. If he comes up, I would love to attend a reading or something. I only discovered this website through a random link, but I love the concept, if I can do anything to help organize this event, please let me know.
  • This is blowing me away. If we get to 100 people and we can find a venue, I'll totally come up to do a reading or a performance or whatever.
  • brian
Ok, if this demand actually turns into an event, I will travel up to San Francisco to be there and welcome Wil. I see we're up to the magic number 42. We prolly have about another 50-60 people to go and then we'll be reaching critical mass.

Someone should start thinking about a really nice venue for this event to happen in.

Also, I would love to know if the folks demanding this event are willing to help pay Wil's way up to SF ?

What's a reasonable price per person? If everyone pitched in $5 for Wil's travel expenses, that'd prolly cover it.

Let's hear some other voices in here! What do you think?
