The screening is the first time that the Princess Theatre has featured a Christmas film classic
and if successful, the Theatre hopes to make Christmas films an annual holiday tradition.

“A CHRISTMAS STORY,” a nostalgic view of Christmas in Indiana during the 1940s, stars Peter Billingsley as Ralphie, a nine-year old who has only one thing on his Christmas list:
“a Red Ryder Carbine-Action 200-Shot Air Rifle.” The movie follows Ralphie and his quest and the epic events which led up to Christmas morning. Darren McGavin stars as the Old Man or Ralphie’s father Mr. Parker along with Melinda Dillon as Mrs. Parker.

The New York Times calls “A CHRISTMAS STORY,” “maybe the best Christmas movie ever.” The movie features a bunch of vignettes about family life and small-town Americana. Among the favorite film vignettes of cult viewers – Ralphie’s friends triple dog dare and disputing whether a person’s tongue will stick to a frozen flagpole, the neighbors’ dogs destroying the Christmas turkey, eating Chinese turkey at the local Chinese restaurant. In addition to the film, the Princess Theatre is planning activities related to the movie’s theme for the audience such as a raffle of the iconic leg lamp from the film. Audiences are encouraged to come in the costume of their favorite character for a look a like contest. The nostalgic evening at the movie will offer concession sales of wine, beer, drinks, candy and of course, pop corn. General admission tickets are $8 available in advance at the Princess Theatre box office at 256.340.1778 or online at www.princesstheatre.org or one hour prior to show time.
