Living in Full Empowerment, Inc. 2012 Inaugural Women's Conference/Detroit Metro Area

This is the Living in Full Empowerment, Inc. 2012 Inaugural Women's Conference/Detroit Area featuring opening plenary address by Marian Wright Edelman, Esq., Founder of the Children's Defense Fund (the strongest advocate for women and children in the US), first black woman to pass the Mississippi Bar, 2000 recipient of the President's Medal of Freedom, and author. This is a conference for women of various backgrounds. Our goal is to inform, educate, build up, lift up, and transform women in very practical ways. Our other two plenary speakers are Ms. A'Lelia Bundles, the great great granddaughter of Madam CJ Walker, author and award winning journalist and Dr. Hyveth Williams, professor of homelitics at Andrews University, author, and first African American female senior pastor in the Seventh-day Adventist Church. We will offer at least 15 workshops each day (4-5 concurrent running workshops daily) from cake decorating and building a song or a website to addressing violence against women, chronic disease prevention, self-care, networking & the significance of lynching narratives and much more. The Conference convener is Founder/President of Living in Full Empowerment, Inc. (LivFullE), Dr. Mitzi J. Smith (Ph.D. Harvard) and Assoc. Professor of New Testament at Ashland Theological Seminary-Detroit. The registration fees include breakfast and lunch. We are inviting 200 special guests -- women from local Detroit homeless shelters and/or women who are in transition; they will pay no fee to attend.
