Surf, Sand and Silversides: The California Grunion will launch the Ocean Institute’s series of public events throughout 2012. The first event on Thursday, Feb. 16, 6:30 p.m. features Dr. Karen Martin and her award-winning documentary about grunions--the life and famous spawning habits that take place on moonlit nights on California beaches.
The grunions day-to-day habits are more mysterious than the nights when the fish risk their lives, exiting the water in order to create life. Dr. Martin will reveal little known facts.
Reservations are suggested since events sell out quickly. The cost is $10. Ocean Institute members are free. For reservations, call Alexis at (949) 496-2274, ext. 610.
