Weekend Trip: Roadtrip Scavenger Hunt

What do you get when you combine The Amazing Race, the Old West, and a road trip? Answer: A lot of fun on this trip! That's right, we are taking a real road trip into the countryside of central Texas! Normally this part of Texas would be a boring drive, but this will not be a "normal" road trip!! Each carpool vehicle will be its own scavenger hunt team, and you will have to find and photograph the scavenger items while navigating your own route to each checkpoint (no interstate highway travel allowed!) The winning team gets free food and drink that night!* Your scavenger hunt goal is to find as many items on the "What to Photograph" checklist as possible. This list is specially designed to help you meet Texas country locals and get in touch with your Texas culture by finding items such as: "mullet", "bottle of Jack Daniels", a sign with the word "fried pie", and winning votes for designations such as "most 'Redneck' photo". (See complete "What to Photograph" checklist.) You also get an extra point if someone from your team is in the photo. (See complete Scavenger Hunt Rules.) These photos could get pretty funny and interesting! *PRIZE Everyone gives $5 to start the scavenger hunt. The winning team gets to spend the prize money on free food/drinks on Saturday night. Deposit Your RSVP is not final until your $89 nonrefundable* deposit is in Danielle's hands. You must email Danielle to arrangement payment immediately after RSVPing, or your RSVP will be removed (see Acceptable Forms of Payment.) This deposit covers 2 nights lodging. Departure & Return Times Note that you may have to leave work early on Friday to be ready for carpooling at 5:15PM. I have experience with this scheduling. . . up to 1.5 hrs for carpool pickups + 1 hr for group dinner + 3 hr drive + gas stops, which puts us there after 10PM, but only if we start at 5:15!!!! Plan to be back in Dallas on Sunday, 7-11PM. Lodging @ Sayles Ranch Guesthouses The owner of our lodging at Sayles Ranch Guest House, Terry, wanted to make sure all of us would have our own beds and get the full experience of his properties, so he has offered us THREE adjacent vacation homes for the price of the one I originally reserved! (Over $1,400 value!!!) These houses are on par with four-star luxury resorts; they are fully furnished in an upscale cowboy western antique decor, with Ralph Lauren towels, Vera Wang mattresses, high thread count sheets, new stainless steel appliances, flat screen TVs, and an X-box!
