Weekend Trip: Fredericksburg Holiday Lights & Wine Trail

Anyone who enjoys good wine, elaborate light displays, and old-fashioned holiday cheer should enjoy this trip! Also, Fredericksburg is in the heart of Texas Hill Country, so driving around the area will be very scenic! *Before you RSVP you must read and agree to Our Group Travel Rules. Deposit Your RSVP is not final until your $62 nonrefundable* deposit is in Danielle's hands. You must email Danielle to arrangement payment immediately after RSVPing, or your RSVP will be removed. The deadline to pay is 1 week in advance (Nov. 28), but the first 9 people to pay will get a bed/couch in the cabin! The deposit covers 2 nights lodging. Note that you may have to leave work early on Friday to be ready for carpooling at 5:15PM. I have experience with this scheduling. . . We have a 5 hr drive + 1 hr carpool pickups + 1 hr dinner, which puts us there after midnight, but only if we start at 5:15!!!! Plan to be back in Dallas on Sunday, 7-11PM. Once again, historic Main Street will be ablaze with thousands of white lights each evening and Marktplatz is transformed into a lighted winter wonderland with an outdoor ice skating rink. Fredericksburg is a shopper’s paradise with more than 150 specialty shops lining downtown streets. You’ll find something for everyone on your list — apparel, antiques and collectibles, fine art, handcrafts by local artisans, Christmas ornaments, regional books, delicious Hill Country foods and wines and much more! (A Christmas Market & Festival) - Marktplatz 2008 Holiday Wine Trail: Texas Hill Country Wineries (website) Vineyards and tasting rooms are cloaked in lights, warmth and holiday cheer awaiting first timers and seasoned friends alike. Cheerfulness is an ingredient abundant year round in tasting rooms, however coupled with deep reds and crisp whites they light the holidays like never before. Case discounts fit nicely into tightly wrapped holiday budgets. We will try to visit all of these winery events: Becker Vineyards Port & Stilton Cheese Tasting, and Port Shots!!! Ports are fun to pair with Stilton Blue Cheese. There will be complimentary samples of Stilton Blue Cheese to pair with the Becker Vineyards' Port. Also, the Port Shots are fun! Sample some chocolate, shoot some Port and chase it with chocolate! Delightful! This, too, is complimentary! Musicians will be playing live music. Fredericksburg Winery Fredericksburg Winery - ‘Tis the Holiday Season and our World famous Christmas Wine (sweet, red, spiced wine served heated – in Gluhwein) will be in the crock-pot ready for tasting. The Christmas Wine Jelly and Christmas Wine Chocolates will be available for your Christmas gift baskets. There will be lots of food to sample and of course our wines made from TEXAS grapes. Grape Creek Vineyards Visiting Grape Creek Vineyards is enjoyable anytime and especially the holidays. We will have music on the weekends and our 3000 sq ft Tuscan tasing room is well staffed to afford you an enjoyable tasting and wine buying expereince without long waits. Sister Creek Vineyards The holidays are always a magical time in the Texas Hill Country, the cool crisp days, beautiful blue skies, and of course the best wines Texas has to offer. So come by and stroll through our winery, sample our scrumptious Cabernet 3 blend brownies, gourmet cheeses, and other munchies. Our tasting room is brimming full with wine and wine accessories that make wonderful gifts for family and friends.
