*Disclaimer: by RSVPing "Yes" you are stating that you have read and agree to Our Group Travel Rules. ***Exact trip date and time TBD*** Dear Armchair Travelers, Do you get caught up in the Olympic Spirit while watching it on TV? Can you imagine how much more intense and exciting it is in person?! Do you think it would be too expensive to find out for yourself? If so, then you owe it to yourself to read this whole message! First, the Olympics aren't as expensive as you might think, especially not if we go as a group! I say this with confidence for three reasons: 1.) these Olympics are in Vancouver, Canada, which means no overseas flights or translation books needed, 2.) I already checked the ticket prices, 3.) I know what to expect because I have experience with this type of trip. That's right, I said experience! Sure, I've got experience organizing 5-star trips for this Meetup, but more importantly, I've got Winter Olympics travel experience—I spent five days at the 2001 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City! (I won an all-expenses paid trip.) I've got insider knowledge that will stretch our dollars and make this trip as exciting and fun as any Olympic trip can be. For example, I know what events aren't worth attending because you end up watching the on-site TV screens anyway. I know how to get special Olympic trading pins for free. I know what to expect for logistics of getting to and from and in and around events. And I know how to get close to the athletes and get autographs! The Winter Olympics only happen once every 4 years, and they don't often happen in North America, nor in English-speaking countries, so 2010 will be one of the best Olympic Games for us to attend! If you're interested in going, download the file "Olympics.xls" from our Files page. This file has two spreadsheets with all the info and links I have at this time. Please review the Costs and payment Due Dates, and if you think this trip is realistically feasible for you, RSVP Yes and contact Danielle ASAP. Olympic tickets go on sale this February—TWO MONTHS from now! Ticket costs will be due at that time, but other trip costs will be due later so you'll have time to save money (see .XLS for details). Plus, you'll have a whole year to get those vacation days off work! P.S. I priced a 5 day trip, but 4 days would also be feasible if enough people say they prefer it.
