November 15 - Salvation Army Lunch

Everyday The Salvation Army is making an impact and helping the world become a little better by changing one life at a time. We can help by serving meals to the homeless individuals. We will be serving lunch from 11:00 - 1:15 at the Salvation Army Carr P. Collins Social Service Center (across the street from Parkland Hospital). This location prepares and serves 1200 - 1400 meals daily and houses 400-500 individuals in four residential programs: Substance Abuse for Men & Women; Homeless Shelter for Men; Homeless Shelter for Women & Children and Domestic Violence Shelter. We need to allow time for others to sign up who may be interested. IF THIS IS YOUR FIRST TIME: Before you come to this event, please read the "Salvation Army Dress Code" in the Random Acts' "Files" section. http://www.salvationarmydfw.org/. Wear a ball cap if you don't want to wear a hair net. MAP and PARKING: http://www.salvationarmydfw.org/ for the map. We are at location number 4 on the map. Parking is behind their building off of Redfield between Lofland and Butler. There is a sign that indicates the parking lot is permit only but park there anyway! Once you turn into that lot you will see the guest parking. Do not park in front of the building as cars will be towed. Kids that are 12 yrs of age and older are welcome to join us. Let's gather and contribute our time to this worthwhile event. ***NOTE TO THOSE TAKING PHOTOS: Photography is welcome at the Salvation Army, and pictures of other volunteers, the facility, the food, and so on are totally acceptable. However, we need to remember to respect the privacy of the clients whom we are helping to serve. Please refrain from taking pictures of the clients, volunteers with clients, and so on. If you accidentally include someone, you can crop that person out or use programs such as photoshop or paint.net (free) to blur the face before posting to meetup, Facebook, or other sites.***
