Description
Originally invented in the early 1960's by Stan Mangum through the merging of lacrosse, basketball, and bumber cars. It wasn't until the 70's did the game become popular, thanks mostly in part due his son Kim Magnum. Today Whirlyball is a rapidly growing franchise with at least one facility in every major metropolitan area. Come join us as we hit the local courts on November 18th for a night of fast paced action. Due to the size of the event , I'm limiting it to 12 people and a non-refundable** deposit of $15 ( per person) is required to attend. If I don't receive an acceptable form of payment (paypal/check) within 6 days from your RSVP date, I will unfortunately be forced to move you to No and allow someone else to take your place. For your deposit, you will get: At least 45 minutes of court time Equipment required to play Unlimited/All-You-Can-Drink Beverages (including Beer and Wine Coolers) for the duration of the event Rules to the game: A whirlyball team consists of five players. Each player rides a Whirlybug and carries a scoop, with which he or she can pass the ball, usually a wiffleball, to teammates and shoot at the goal, a circular target above the two opposite ends of the court. A score in WhirlyBall is called a "Whirlic". Players are not allowed to leave their cars or touch the ball with their hands. Other than that, almost anything is allowed, within certain bounds of safety, such as you are not allowed to ram a player from behind (4 point penalty). The game is completed when one team reaches 10 points (easier said than done) . What to bring: You only need to bring a comfortable set of clothes as this is an active event. Please try to show up at least 10 minutes prior to the event to ensure that you get your full amount of court time. After the game we will be heading over to "The Grapevine" (3902 Maple Ave Dallas TX 75219) around: 9:15 for a few drinks and maybe shoot a little pool. This place is one of my local favorites for the wide range of crowds and their cheap prices on wells. Even if you can't make it out to Whirlyball, feel free to stop by to the bar and share a drink or two with us. Hope to see you there! ** I will provide a refund to everyone if I cannot get at least 10 confirmed payments by November 12th, 2009.
