**THIS EVENT IS REOPENED. SEE DANIELLE'S COMMENT ON BOTTOM** *Disclaimer: when you RSVP Yes, you are agreeing to Our Group Travel Rules and all details on this page, so please read before you RSVP! It's cold in January, so we're taking a trip where the weather is 72 degrees and 98% humidity—we're going UNDERGROUND!!! If you have never been to a cave, there are no words or photos that can accurately explain the beauty and awe you get from seeing a cave in person. And exploring the vast darkness with a mere flashlight beam makes you realize just how much we take light bulbs for granted! The photos of Inner Space Cavern are more amazing than anything I saw in Mammoth Cave in Kentucky (the world's largest cave), so we should take advantage of the fact that this cave is only 2.5 hours from Dallas! Look at the amazing photos! Deposit Your RSVP is not final until your $22 nonrefundable* deposit is in Danielle's hands. You must email Danielle to arrangement payment immediately after RSVPing, or your RSVP will be removed (see Acceptable Forms of Payment.) Trip Activities We'll start this day trip by meeting for breakfast in Dallas at 10AM (location TBD). Then we'll carpool from breakfast to Georgetown, just north of Austin. As is our group tradition, we'll take a break halfway at the Czech Stop for kolache pastries. At Inner Space Caverns, we will be taking the "Explorer Tour", which lasts approx. 1 hour 35 minutes. It is a walking tour that can be done in street clothes, and does not require any crawling or repelling (that tour was $100 each). This tour begins with the general public Adventure Tour, which is probably a fully-lit cave path so you can see all the cavern walls, just like in the photos. Then the last 20 minutes our group will split off with a guide to go off-trail with flashlights. Walking in a pitch-black cave with nothing but a flashlight is more adventurous than you might think! Other potential activities include panning for gems and minerals at the Inner Space Mine. We'll probably want to eat something when we get out, then we'll drive back to Dallas and should be home around 8-9PM. Carpool Transportation Please read and agree to the Carpool FAQ and Rules. We will carpool from breakfast, so some people will be leaving their cars in the breakfast parking lot for the day. *Please click the "refund policy" link for details.
