Spring Quartet Poetry Reading at Del Mar College

Sponsored by Del Mar College's Libraries and Department of English and Philosophy as part of the College's Literary Reading Series, two DMC and two Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi faculty members will read from their work during a "FREE" Spring Quartet Poetry Reading.

For those who enjoy poetry but do not have the opportunity to attend the event, Del Mar College will broadcast the poetry readings live on the Web beginning 15 minutes before the 11 a.m. event starts.Individuals can view the event by going to http://www.delmar.edu/webcasts.aspx. The quartet of poets includes Sara Kaplan, DMC Assistant Professor of English who has two published collections, Moon Talk (Trilobite Press) and Touring West of the Mississippi (Finishing Line Press), and Alan Berecka, DMC Associate Professor and Reference Librarian with three publications to his name, including his chapbook Each Man Has One Life (Trilobite Press) and full-length collections The Comic Flaw (neoNuma Arts) and Remembering the Body (Mongrel Empire Press).

Poets from TAMU-CC include Robb Jackson and Vanessa Furse Jackson, who both teach in the English Department and co-authored a collection of poetry called Crane Creek, Two Voices. To Robb's credit, the poet has two other publications, including Living on the Hurricane Coast (Panther Creek Press) and a chapbook titled From Halsdon Mill Cottage. Vanessa has authored one book about her great-grandfather, The Poetry of Henry Newbolt: Patriotism Is Not Enough (ELT Press), and two story collections, What I Cannot Say to You (University of Missouri Press) and Small Displacements (Livingston Press).

As part of this event, the poets' books will be available for purchase with a book signing following the reading.
