Lecture Examining African-American Philosophy and Impact of Writer DuBois at Del Mar College

Sponsored by the Del Mar College Cultural Programs Committee as part of Black History Month Celebrations, guest lecturer Dr. Jack C. Knight will present a special lecture titled "Double Consciousness Writ Large: W.E.B. DuBois and the 'Problem' of the Color Line."

The professor of philosophy at Missouri State University teaches philosophy and logic and researches African-American philosophy with an emphasis on the work of writer DuBois.

Knight describes his work as an exploration of the various ways of understanding the human self and its relation to the world. Through a consideration of what can be known, what is real, and what is worth valuing with central themes arising from the quest for self-knowledge.
