This is the first and hopefully..annual 50k trail event on the Palmetto Trail! Based on the Mayan calendar...the world (or at least the calendar) ends on December 21, 2012. This event starts an finishes at the Witherbee Ranger Station, located in Cordesville, SC.
We will run an out and back course from this location to ensure the safety of the participants and to provide medical coverage. I will have three aid stations along the route. The first will be located at the start and finish line, the second at mile 7.5 (23 mile marker on the return) and at 15.56. Each station will be manned with volunteers an have 1 ambulance and a portable toilet. I will also have water, gels, hammer heed and fruit at each location.
The aid stations are also the switch point for the relay participants. Each runner will be required to run at least 7.5 miles...unassisted! Just you and Mother Nature!
The trail is a portion of the Swamp Fox Passage a leg of the Palmetto Trail. It is very well maintaine
