Get as many people to make these 3 phone calls. Call GOP contributor and war contractor General Electric Corporation at 800 386 1215 or 203 373 2211 and tell the person who answers, that you want the GE CEO Jeffrey Immelt to get Bush to end the war in Iraq and then Bush resign with Cheney and until that happens you will not buy any GE products and that you will tell your friends about this. Call GOP contributor Rite Aid Corporation at 800-325-3737 and tell the person to get the CEO to get the congress to enact HR 676 Single payer universal health care and repeal Medicare Part D and place the drug benefit in Medicare Part B covering 80% of drugs with no extra premiums, no extra deductibles, no means tests, no coverage gaps, and remove the means test for Medicare Part B and until that happens, you won't buy ANYTHING from Rite Aid Pharmacies and that you will tell your friends about this. Call GOP contributor Wendy's restaurants at 614 764-3553 and Tell the person in public relations that you want their CEO to get the congress to help enact a $10/HR MIN. It's unfortunate that the primary season probably won't allow the Senator a chance to visit until the general election. Thats how our election cycle is set up. I would love to see the Senator and would gladly drive from Louisville to do so. I think this visit would do much to endear the candidate to the heartland, and would be a good media event as well. I hope the Senator will consider a stop, maybe a little detour from Iowa on your way to New Hampshire.

Friends, Please allow me to be the first to say “Congratulations!” and offer my sincerest “Thank You!” for all your hard work and support in getting presidential candidate John Edwards to visit Columbus, Kentucky!! As you may know, at 2 PM Central time today, Columbus was declared the winner in the Eventful.com online voting contest, beating out cities like Los Angeles, San Francisco and Dallas. Your hard work has not gone unnoticed. After garnering over 1800 votes, the people of Columbus, Hickman County and all of Kentucky received national media attention. (Links included at the bottom of this e-mail) More importantly, we have started a new dialogue about rural America and the everyday problems facing our small towns and communities. It’s important that in the coming days we keep this conversation going and send a clear message to our elected leaders that we will no longer sit by while the needs of rural America are ignored. This event is not about party politics, but rather about sharing ideas and proposing solutions to help restore rural America to the thriving vibrant communities we all love and know they can be. I am thrilled that former Senator John Edwards is now giving us the opportunity to host him and hear his plan for small towns like ours all across America. Thanks again for your support. The best is yet to come! I look forward to spending time together in Columbus in the very near future!! Yours, Shawn Media Links: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HPOjugpbNkw http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2007/07/18/tiny-town-hopes-for-edwards-visit/

We need to get John to get one of these $10 haircuts that you have in Columbus. Invite plenty of media.... make fun of the stupid haircut controversy. Show the world that John is just a regular guy. That's what I'd do if I were his campaign manager.

I think what Shawn has sparked for Columbus is great. I grew up there and it definately is rural America. Why, we are as country as a turnip green. Seriously though, this is a great example of what word-of-mouth can do. As for the un-happy voters like John33 and people who do not believe Columbus has nearly 1700 votes, I say deal with it!!! Don't mistakenly think only Columbus residents voted, but others in surrounding communities have rallied together and voted to bring John Edwards to Columbus. Besides, my dogs are too busy playing Wii all day and have no time to vote!

Yo. John. There are more people in this area that want to see John Edwards than just those who live within the city limits of Columbus. Real people from western Kentucky, southern Illinois, south eastern Missouri, northwestern Tennessee are all within short drives of Columbus - and there are many, many rural communities like Columbus around here. If you want Ron Paul to come to your town, then start a demand for him to come to your town and good luck with it. And as far as Edwards' hair cut, what does that have to do with anything? It doesn't matter to the poor, the rural, the middle class losing their jobs and their health insurance, the often deployed troops and their families, what George Bush pays for his haircut or how big his ranch is, or whether Rudy is a millionaire or Hillary wears designer. It is what they care about that counts with me. John Edwards was not born with a silver spoon in his mouth and if he wants to get an expensive haircut then good for him.

bull.....crap, how's the population of the town around 300 and there's a demand of almost 2000, dogs and cats don't count, and if they really want to meet some one that's intelligent, organized, honest, and that really stands for the people and the constitution you should really demand dr Ron Paul, not some guy that pays $500 dollard for a haircut, because that's smart.

One thing senator. Don't try to raise any money on this trip. You will get great value out of a visit to Columbus that is more important than money if you let your hair down and be "real" and honest. a hair cut in Columbus costs less $10, including tip.

thedecider06 writes: Columbus, Kentucky is a small town in Western Kentucky that boasts a population of 229 people and is about a 50 minute drive from the closest McDonalds. Like many rural communities across the south, job loss in the face of rising healthcare costs and education costs have crippled the economy. We want to see John Edwards come to real rural America and address the problems we face and hear his plan for revitalizing small American communities like ours!

John Edwards was born in Seneca, South Carolina and raised in Robbins, North Carolina, a small town in the Piedmont. There John learned the values of hard work and perseverance from his father, Wallace, who worked in the textile mills for 36 years, and from his mother, Bobbie, who ran a shop and worked at the post office. Working alongside his father at the mill, John developed his strong belief that all Americans deserve an equal opportunity to succeed and be heard. A proud product of public schools, John became the first person in his family to attend college. He worked his way through North Carolina State University where he gr...
