Description
This exhibition, the first of a planned series, is designed to shed light on the experiences and accomplishments of segments of the Chattahoochee Valley community that have been overlooked or underrepresented in interpretation of local history. Through intensive examination of the fragmentary historical record, this exhibition will help visitors better understand what life was like for Chattahoochee Valley slaves and how they dealt with the transition to freedom in the years after the Civil War.

The Columbus Museum is unique in the Southeast for its focus on American art and regional history. The Museum features changing art and history exhibitions, almost 300 years of American fine and decorative art, the history of the Chattahoochee Valley and Transformations, a hands-on discovery gallery for kids. The Columbus Museum, located at 1251 Wynnton Road, is open from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday, until 9:00 p.m. on Thursday, and 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday.
