Description
On May 15, 1999, Columbus Crew Stadium, a 22,555-seat venue, opened as the first major league stadium built specifically for soccer in the United States.

Combining European atmosphere, traditional American amenities, and the sharp-cut industrial look designed in the very image of America's Hardest Working Team, the stadium has instantly become a landmark structure in American sports history and perhaps the most extravagant monument to the progress of soccer in the U.S.

In addition to being the home of the Columbus Crew of Major League Soccer (MLS), Crew Stadium hosts many other diverse and exciting world-class events. Events held at Crew Stadium include the FIFA Women's World Cup USA 2003, U.S. Men's and Women's National Team soccer matches including World Cup qualifying action, international soccer matches, MLS Cup 2001, MLS 2000 All-Star Game, NFL Exhibitions, Major League Lacrosse, NCAA Men's College Cup national soccer championships, Grange Insurance Ohio All-Star Classic, Atlas Butler Kickoff Classic, Ohio High School Athletic Association championship events, and concerts such as *NSYNC in 2001, Rascal Flatts in 2005 and 2006 and Kenny Chesney in 2006.
