Event details: The Early Interval: Strike the Tabor!
Description
In its spring program The Early Interval will explore medieval and Renaissance music that makes use of a wide variety of historical
percussion instruments. Guest artist for this concert will be percussionist Cary Dachtyl. The program will include medieval and Renaissance dance music in many styles, as well as a variety of other period music making use of percussion instruments. The group will perform vocally and on recorders, crumhorns, medieval and Renaissance harps, violas da gamba, medieval lute, hurdy-gurdy, vielles, rebec, violin and pipe and tabor. Also included on the program will be Kyrie, Sanctus and Agnus Dei settings composed by Ron Cook for voice, bass viola da gamba, alto recorder and percussion. The members of The Early Interval performing on this program are Ron Cook, director, Jim Bates, Janice Cook, Lyz Liddell and Monica Rudy. The group will be joined for this concert by soprano Margaret Bradshaw.
