Run/Walk-A-Thon to Raise Funds for Life-Saving Transplant A Run/Walk-A-Thon, ÂÂ"Ready, Set, Go! For Justin V.ÂÂ", will be held in honor of Justin V., a Gahanna-area child who has had a bone marrow transplant. The event is planned for Sunday, November 22nd, at Gahanna Lincoln High School. Sixteen-year-old Justin has received a bone marrow transplant at Nationwide Children's Hospital in Columbus, Ohio. Funds are being raised to assist with his transplant-related expenses. Run/Walk-A-Thon, ÂÂ"Ready, Set, Go! For Justin V.ÂÂ" WHEN: Sunday, November 22, 2009 - 1:00 pm Race Start, Registration doors open at 10:30 am LOCATION: Gahanna Lincoln High SchoolÂÂ's track, 140 S. Hamilton Rd., Gahanna, Ohio 43230 REGISTRATION: $10 per person. Participants are asked to gather pledges for Justin, in addition to their $10 entry fee. (This is voluntary of course.) Or, be a "Napper Lapper" and donate $10 for a run entry, collect donations if you wish. And, stay warm and toasty on the sofa. OTHER DETAILS: Gift bags for the first 50 participants to collect $100 each for Justin! Collect $500 and get a certificate for a 2-night hotel stay. Goodie bags for the first 100 participants registered. All participants will get an item in honor of Justin. Complimentary Snack & water break. The ChildrenÂÂ's Organ Transplant Association (COTA) is a National 503c non-profit organization and contributions are 100% deductible as allowed by law. Participants are asked to collect all pledges prior to the Run/Walk -A-Thon and are asked to complete a registration form that is available by contacting Brenda Doner, travl4u@att.net, 614-906-0812. ÂÂ"The family and friends of Justin V. want to encourage and challenge everyone to ask their neighbors and colleagues to make a pledge to help give Justin a second chance at life, said Event Chair Brenda Doner. ÂÂ"100% of the funds collected at the Run/Walk -A-Thon will assist with transplant-related expenses.ÂÂ" Justin was diagnosed with a rare bone marrow/blood disorder. The VanGuilder family needs assistance to pay their transplant-related expenses. Justin V.ÂÂ's family has asked for assistance from the ChildrenÂÂ's Organ Transplant Association (COTA), a national charity based in Bloomington, Indiana. COTA is dedicated to organizing and guiding communities in raising funds for transplant-needy patients. COTAÂÂ's services are completely free of charge and 100% of funds generated by COTA community fundraising campaigns are available for transplant-related expenses.
