The Columbia Contra Dance April Meeting

Carpool down to Baltimore from Columbia for a fun night of contra dancing, live music and a free dance lesson. $10 will get you in the door for a dance lesson, live music and a night of dancing. Plus, you'll get a coupon for your next dance free, and you absolutely do not need to come with a partner. Most everyone switches partners for each new dance. Contra dances, at least in this area, tend to lean toward geek-fashion, so casual and comfortable clothing is right on. Think exercise, movement, fluidity and dress for that. Women, if you have long, flowing skirts, they can be very fun to dance in. Men, if you sweat a lot, consider bringing a few shirts so that you can change throughout the evening. If you prefer to dance in leather- or suede-soled shoes, wear them: You'll get a lot of mileage out of wearing them ... and your knees will probably thank you later. For all new contra dancers: you need to be able to move quickly on your feet. Dress your feet appropriately. There is a new-dancers lesson, which is included the entrance fee. We'll be leaving the parking lot by Noodles & Company in Columbia at 6:50. Plan to get there in time to catch us as we're leaving, or come early and enjoy an easy dinner.We're aiming for a 7:20 arrival in Baltimore, so everyone can get in, get settled and enjoy the lesson.
