RHHS Class of 2001 11-Year Reunion at Nottinghams

Hello Grads! Let's try this again!

Join us for our

11-Year RHHS Class of 2001 Reunion

(in full Class of 2001 fashion, happening 5 years after our last reunion)

Bring all of those Facebook profiles to life!

Join us for a great time catching face time with friends from River Hill!

Further Event Details

We will be in a dedicated space for our class in the back area of Nottingham's.

Light appetizers will be served. Drinks are NOT included in the ticket price.

Tickets are available at a discounted price ($18 per person + EventBrite fee) until May 2, 2012.

After May 2, 2012, a limited number of tickets will be available at the door ($25 per person CASH ONLY) on a first come, first served basis. We will only be able to sell tickets until we hit our reservation capacity.

Please arrive prior to 9pm in order to not forfeit your spot to an "at the door" attendee.

Help us spread the word! Make sure all of your friends are invited. Forward this link and the Facebook link to your RHHS grad networks. No printed invitations will be sent.

This event is 100% on the books and will happen whether it's just a couple of us or a large group, so we hope everyone can make it.

FAQs:

What were the survey results?

We really tried to include everyone's comments and the majority of responses in our planning of this makeup reunion, which were: May 11-12, on a Saturday, from 8pm-11pm, at a Bar/Restaurant, in Columbia/Howard County, $50 per person for open bar (well drinks) and finger foods, dedicated bar space, and a dj, and I would like to RSVP/purchase tickets ahead of time.

The only majority response that we are not following is regarding price. Since the $20 option was a close second, we decided to choose the lower option to accommodate those people who are unable/unwilling to pay more than the lowest possible option.

If you would like to see a PDF of the survey responses, please email Tanya at rhhsclassof2001@gmail.com.

How did you choose Nottingham's?

Multiple other high schools have done reunions at this location, including the RHHS Class of 1998. Nottingham's has come highly recommeded to us after asking around further following the cancellation of last year's event.

How are you able to do this event so cheaply when the last event was so much more?

For this event, we opted to go with the lowest ticket price possible to host a great event that fit into everyone's budget. That said, we have eliminated the following from the last event budget: a DJ, the charity collection, open bar, paid marketing of the event (no advertisement in the local newspapers or printed invitations), and since the tickets are cheaper, so are the PayPal and EventBrite fees. We're also foregoing getting event insurance for the event (which pays for damages to the venue NOT coverage of deposits in the event of cancellation) - so please don't break anything when we're there!

What if I want to attend but not RSVP or purchase my ticket ahead of time?

We would love to have you! Tickets will be sold at the door for $25 per person. However, please take note that we are only going to reserve a room that accommodates roughly the number of pre-purchased tickets. That means that we could hit capacity if everyone who purchases a ticket shows up by 9pm and we don't have extra space within the room we have reserved. So if you plan to come and are able to commit ahead of time, we definitely suggest and encourage you to purchase your ticket before May 2, 2012!

Why is the door price higher than the online price? What's the extra money being used for?

We need to take online reservations ahead of time to pay for the deposit required by Nottingham's. Also, we need to get a headcount ahead of time to order food and make sure we have the right amount of space reserved at Nottingham's. The lower online price is to encourage grads to purchase their tickets ahead of time. However, we know that many of our grads do not want to commit so far out of the event so we are offering the pay at the door option with limited capacity in order to accommodate that request.

Any dollars we have that come in at the door will go towards the room reservation/cover charge and an increase in food/tax/gratuity costs ordered the night of the event due to an increase in attendance. If we have any ticket money left over - it will all go in a "door prize pot" and one attendee's name will be drawn at random who will win the "door prize pot" (Tanya and Jenny will be excluded from winning).

Why aren't drinks included with this ticket? What about drink specials instead?

We opted to not have drinks included this time in order to allow for all attendees to manage their own consumption. Nottingham's does not offer discounts on alcohol after 8pm. Since the majority of grads who answered the survey requested the 8pm - 11pm hour, we are unable to get discounted drinks. If anyone would like to take advantage of Nottingham's happy hour prior to the event, you are more than welcome to get there ahead of time.

What is the breakdown of the costs included in the ticket (per person)?

$5 Nottingham's room reservation (in leiu of having to pay the cover charge)

$9 appetizers (drinks are not included, so each attendee will need to pay separately or open their own tab if they choose to drink)

$2.25 tax + gratuity on food

$.88 PayPal fee

$.50 nametag

$.37 contingency/contribution towards "door prize pot"

Will this event get cancelled again?

Absolutely not.

Are tickets refundable?

Unfortunately, tickets are not refundable. Once we count you in our headcount, we cannot refund the purchase as that will go directly to Nottingham's for the room reservation and food cost, which needs to be ordered ahead of time.

What about doing a picnic for families instead of an adult only event?

We would love to have a second event - however, due to personal constraints, we are only able to plan one event. If someone would like to coordinate a picnic, please email Tanya at rhhsclassof2001@gmail.com.

Why can't we do a Summer event or plan around a major holiday?

It seems that no date will satisfy everyone. We did not want to do a Winter event to avoid any possible weather interruptions. Summer still poses an issue with family vacations, weddings, studying for post-grad exams, etc. Fall is a bit too far away, in our opinion. And, not everyone in our class returns to the area for holidays, so in order to not have grads choose between visiting family in other locations or attend the reunion, we have opted to not have it during a main holiday weekend (part of the reason we didn't pursue the date near Thanksgiving). You will notice though that this is over Mother's Day weekend, so we're hoping that that will catch a few more grads who may be back in the area visiting moms!

Why aren't physical invitations being sent?

We sent invitations last year and about half were returned to us. In order to keep costs to an absolute minimum, we are foregoing any printed invitations this time around. In turn, we are opting for a fully electronic invitation system. Please help us by getting the word out!

I didn't receive a printed invitation last time! How can I make sure you have my current mailing address?

The only way we were able to verify addresses was through personal connections we have with grads or if grads updated their information with 1-800-REUNION. This is the only method we have set up in order to track everyone at this point. Every time you change your mailing address, please make sure to add 1-800-REUNION to your list of places to update your address. You can also email Tanya directly at rhhsclassof2001@gmail.com. (If you would like to see a photo of the invites from last time, you can email Tanya for that as well.)

How was Tanya selected as the event chair? I want to help with this event or plan one in the future. How can I get involved?

Prior to graduation, Sybil Modispacher, our class adviser, appointed Tanya as the reunion coordinator. This information is kept on record at RHHS. If you have any questions about that, please contact Tanya or RHHS directly. To get involved with the committee, please contact Tanya at rhhsclassof2001@gmail.com. We love having additional help!

I'm still not happy with this event and would like to voice my opinion or find out more information on how these details were set.

Please contact Tanya at rhhsclassof2001@gmail.com or (614) 271-8257.
