Purple Martin Lake Cruise

This is a great summer event! An early evening cruise on Lake Murray as the afternoon cools off. The boat heads out to "Bomb Island" where 100's of thousands of Purple Martins return from their day to roost. There is a superhighway in the sky of birds all coming in on a similar glide path - amazing. Then, clouds of birds swirl around the trees of the island as the sun sets. On board, a light dinner will be served. The price has gone up a bit this year. $29 per person. But well worth the cost! Directions: From Charleston- take I-26 W to Exit 101A (Ballentine/White Rock), turn right onto Broad River Rd (Hwy 176) go 3.2 miles. Bear left onto Dutch Fork Rd. (Hwy 76). Go 1.5 miles, turn left onto Marina Rd. Go 1.0 mile, the Marina will be on your right. The time may change - The Southern Patriot's website lists 7pm for August.
