Speaker: Mac Bennett

Mac Bennett is President and CEO of United Way of the Midlands.  In this role, he directs a large, multi-disciplined staff to determine and respond to the critical human service needs of the community.  Before joining United Way in 2005, Mac served as Executive Director of Central Carolina Community Foundation for 14 years.

Active in the community, Mac is a founding director of the South Carolina Association of Nonprofit Organizations (SCANPO) and served as the first chairman of the organization’s board of directors. He currently serves on the Board of Directors for SCANPO, the Midlands Housing Alliance and the Richland School District 2 Foundation and is a member of the Midlands Business Leadership Group (MBLG) and the Greater Columbia Chamber of Commerce Issues Committee.  Previous leadership roles include service on the Knight Foundation’s Community Advisory Committee, the SC Department of Revenue’s Exempt Organizations Advisory Committee and Richland County First Steps’ Board of Directors.
Mac received a bachelor’s degree in finance and management from the University of South Carolina. He is also a Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) with the Association of Fund-Raising Professionals.
