Incline Workout

Interested in getting into shape? Or having a fun time with other CSOE members? Now is the time to start getting into shape for the up coming year; even if you are in shape it never hurts to get more exercise. Description: The Incline is a trail that begins at 6,574ft. and it will end at 8,585ft, with a total elevation gain of 2,011ft. The total distance traveled will be 1.02 miles. "In brief, the Incline as it exists now is the roadbed to the former Mount Manitou Scenic Incline Railway ÂÂ- a cable car that took people up the eastern face of Rocky Mountain to about 8,600' before shutting down in 1990. The steepest section is at a grade of 68% with the average grade just over 40%." - Courtesy of The Incline Club RECOMMENDED GEAR: YAKTRAKS OR MICRO-SPIKES There will be ice on the trail as we hike higher, so please be prepared. If you do not own these items, please note that the Incline can still be achieved but it may be more challenging. Difficulty Level: Difficult (Due to the amount of elevation gain due to the mileage traveled.) Agenda: 1. Meet at the trailhead (Barr Trail Parking Lot) at 2:45PM, and the climb will begin at 3:00PM. 2. After everyone makes it to the top, whether that is 30 minutes or 90 minutes later, everyone will proceed to descend via the Barr Trail. Trailhead Directions: To reach the trailhead take Business 24 through Manitou Springs. Near the center of historic Manitou Springs look for the turn South that is labeled for the Pikes Peak Cog Railway. Follow this road past the Cog railway station to it's end. At the end of the road you can take a right turn that will take you up a steep hill to the parking lot for the Barr trail. This is where you must park. This parking lot frequently fills up. If it is full, DO NOT park in the Cog Railway parking. They will tow you. After the excursion, the group may or may not go out to eat. It will depend on the group mood, and time completed. Liability Waiver: Please bring a signed copy of the Liability Waiver to the meetup location. If you forget to bring it, dont worry because the organizer will have extra copies on hand. Only one waiver has to be signed for each member for the lifetime of the members membership. YOU CANNOT PARTICIPATE IN THE ACTIVITY UNLESS THE FORM IS SINGED AND DATED.
