With a fashion sense that lies somewhere between Madonna and Gwen Stefani and a musical background in writing songs for the Pussycat Dolls, this electro-pop lady has caused quite a stir amongst the music press and anyone with their finger on the pulse of modern day pop. Lady Gaga is an American singer, songwriter and performance artist. She began performing in the rock music scene of New York City's Lower East Side. Before making a name for herself, Lady Gaga wrote hit songs for labelmates New Kids on the Block, Fergie, the Pussycat Dolls, as well as for Britney Spears. After hearing Gaga sing while she was writing at Interscope, singer-songwriter Akon convinced the Interscope-Geffen-A&M decision makers to sign her to a joint deal with his own label, Kon Live Distribution.
