Taya Kyle, "American Spirit: Profiles in Resilience, Courage, and Faith"

After losing her husband, “American Sniper” Chris Kyle, Taya Kyle entered a period of inconsolable grief. This darkness, however, served as a catalyst for profound growth. She found her own reserve of strength with the help of the generous love and support of family and friends – and also many strangers across America – who selflessly shared their own stories of suffering, survival and triumph. This led Taya to find her calling: spreading a message of how love, passion and service can combine to help us persevere over personal pain and heal our communities. These individuals embody the “American spirit” of resilience, faith, and togetherness that has built the nation. In the end, these stories teach us how to find purpose and heal the world, no matter the difficulty. Taya writes, “Shining a light in the darkness produces more light. It ripples, and in so doing, it multiplies its effect through our communities, our nation, and the world in general. The people and organizations you’ll meet in these pages are each doing their own part to bring order to chaos and to show up for other people. I believe they improve the lives of all of us every day just by tipping the scales more in favor of good more than evil. Each ne represents a different way of either overcoming adversity, helping others, or both. Each one, in his or her own way, represents the pebble that lands in the middle of the pond, generating ripples of help and hope outward.” The reception will begin at 5 p.m., and the program will follow. Copies of Taya’s newest book will be available for purchase.   Taya Kyle is executive director of the Chris Kyle Frog Foundation, whose mission is to strengthen the marriages of military personnel and first responders, which are among the highest divorce rates in the country. Chris and Taya’s story was the subject of Clint Eastwood’s blockbuster film, “American Sniper,” starring Bradley Cooper and Sienna Miller. She is a featured speaker on the Patriot Tour, with Marcus Lutrell, David Goggins, and Chad Fleming. Taya is the New York Times bestselling author of “American Wife.” She lives in Texas.
