      Talk with a Doc - "New Options in Cataract Surgery

      David Markoff, MD, FACS and Caroline Denwood, MD of Mountain Eye Associates will be presenting the Talk with a Doc dinner seminar “New Options in Cataract Surgery” on Tuesday, June 20, 2017 at 6 p.m. at the Haywood Regional Medical Center Café. Dr. Markoff and Dr. Denwood will speak while patrons enjoy a healthy meal. No children in attendance please. Topics to be covered include: treatments for cataracts, cataract surgery, standard and TECNIS Symfony intraocular lenses (extended depth of focus implants).       Dr. David Markoff graduated from Loma Linda University School of Medicine in 1986. He stayed at Loma Linda for his internship and Ophthalmology residency training. He is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and joined Mountain Eye Associates in 1990. Dr. Markoff has been a member of the Waynesville Sunrise Rotary Club since coming to Haywood County. He and other club members started traveling to Montero, Bolivia in 1996, and have returned yearly since then building up an eye care program, performing cataract surgeries, and helping to build on to the clinic in Montero.

      Dr. Caroline Denwood obtained her Bachelor of Science Degree from Indiana University, Bloomington, Indiana, did research with the Veteran’s Administration, completed post- baccalaureate work at Roosevelt University, and then obtained her Medical Degree from Loyola University Chicago. She completed her internship at the Virginia Mason Medical Center in Seattle, Washington. Dr. Denwood recently completed her ophthalmology residency at Indiana University, Eugene and Marilyn Glick Eye Institute in Indianapolis, Indiana. She evaluates and treats eye disease, welcomes consultations, performs a wide variety of ocular surgeries, and also provides routine eye health examinations.

Seminars typically occur on the 3rd Tuesday of the month approximately 10 times a year. Dinner begins at 6:00 pm and the seminar starts shortly after.
