Ellyot H. Ray at Red Mill Museum Village

Red Mill Offers New Acoustic Music Sessions CLINTON, NJ- Museum members will enjoy FREE live acoustic performances at the Red Mill Museum Village on Sundays this winter ($5/nonmembers, FREE for members). The following sessions will be held on March 4 and April 1 from 1:00-3:00 PM. Ellyot H. Ray February 5, 2012 from 1:00-3:00 PM In 2008, the standard "6 strings" slipped out of his hands, when he started to perform open-tuning folk and blues on his Weissenborn lap-slide guitar. As a young man, Ray was influenced by the works of the French Romantic Poets. A touch of those poetry readings remains in his writing and reveals how he attaches great importance to the sounds and meanings of words. Sliding from dark-blues to acoustic soul, yet within the realm of lyrical folk music, Ray is sometimes difficult to define and nearly impossible to put in a box. Although he perceives himself as more of a poet, a traveler, a curious soul, he manages to melt his influences and background history, and sings and plays beautiful melodies while telling enchanting stories. The Red Mill Museum Village is a private, non-profit museum. Our mission is to preserve, maintain, and present to the public the social, agricultural, and industrial heritage of Hunterdon and its surrounding area. Our ten acre site houses 12 historic buildings (including a Grist Mill, the Mulligan Quarry buildings, and several relocated historic structures) in which we display permanent and changing exhibits showcasing our collection of agricultural, industrial and domestic artifacts. The Museum hosts a broad calendar of public programming including lectures, workshops, living history reenactments and other special events throughout the year.
