After blowing up on the San Francisco scene in 2006 with their self-released EP "This Is The World's Biggest Hammer", Social Studies is aiming high. With two tours under their belts and countless shows in their hometown (including dates with the Pipettes, the Long Blondes and Handsome Furs), the band spent months recording and finessing a full-length that pushed their eccentric songwriting skills to new heights. The result, "Wind Up Wooden Heart" tempers the Fiery Furnaces with a love of unadulterated pop songwriting and arms the Decemberists with Casiotones instead of accordions. With adventurous structures, consistently catchy melodies, and Natalia Rogovin's enchanting voice, Social Studies crafts an album that's equally infectious and innovative.
