Breast Cancer Research Fundraiser

AthenaÂÂ's Home Novelties announced their latest initiative to raise money, and awareness, for breast cancer research by breaking the world record for the most bras hooked together. This aggressive initiative ÂÂ- called The Athena's Cup ÂÂ- will come to fruition on Sunday January 10, 2010. The reality is that in order to break the current record, we must gather 169,000 bras. October is Breast Cancer awareness month, but honestly, every month should be dedicated to finding a cure for this deadly killer of women and even men. Help make our dreams come true! According to Guinness World Records™ the current record is 166,625 bras, and was created by Citizens Who Care group, Australia, on August 9, 2009. Office staff, friends, family and Goddesses of AthenaÂÂ's from all over the country, will link the bras together in Newport, RI - home of the AmericaÂÂ's Cup. According to the American Cancer Society, (http://www.cancer.org...) the chance of a woman having invasive breast cancer some time during her life is a little less 1 in 8. The chance of dying from breast cancer is about 1 in 35. Breast cancer death rates have been going down, probably the result of finding the cancer earlier and better treatment. Right now there are more than 2½ million breast cancer survivors in the United States. The AthenaÂÂ's Cup (http://www.athenascup...) was born from dreams and visions of a world without breast cancer. Kristina Schuman of Cleveland, Ohio and Jenifer Bartoszek of Salem, NH and representatives known as Goddesses for Athena's, have enthusiastically and passionately agreed to be part of this national campaign and ask the Northeast Ohio area to support their efforts. They are hosting a Bra Drive at Anatomy Nightclub and Ultra lounge on December 4th, 2009 starting at 9pm. Located at 1299 W 9th Street Cleveland , OH 44113. We are collecting a $2 donation or more at the door or you can get in free by donating your bra. You can even write the name of a loved one who has battled this horrific disease inside the bra. There will be random giveaways throughout the night, enter to win a gift basket filled with goodies from AthenaÂÂ's and local vendors.
