Celebrate Presidents' Day at William Howard Taft National Historic Site

William Howard Taft National Historic Site will celebrate President’s day by offering a visit with William Howard Taft. At 1 pm on February 20, Dale Liikala will portray Taft in a 45 minute program titled “Our Reluctant President,". The program begins at a point approximately one week prior to Taft being sworn in as Chief Justice. He then works his way back to include a bit of family history and a concise chronological history of his various positions. Interspersed in the talk are personal and family anecdotes...everything from the bathtub story to Nellie's influence on the arts and cultural aspects of Washington D.C.

The site will also offer free Junior Ranger activities throughout the day. Visitors of all ages will be rewarded with Junior Ranger badges and patches for participating in activities that focus on William Howard Taft, Ohio Presidents, and Presidential History.

A visit to the site includes a Ranger guided tour of his home, self guided exhibits and an introductory video on Taft’s life and career. Tours of the boyhood home will be conducted throughout the day from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. All activities are free and reservations are not required.

Events begin at the Taft Education Center, located at 2038 Auburn Avenue, one block south of the Christ Hospital. Free parking is available in front of the education center or an overflow lot on southern Call 513-684-3262 for accessibility assistance and information. Driving directions and map as well as other useful information can be found at www.nps.gov/wiho
