The Apollo Theater Chicago was built in 1978 and is located in the windy city's Lincoln Park neighborhood. With seating for 440 accommodated in only 11 rows, the Apollo Theater Chicago offers a uniquely intimate and immersing theatrical experience. In addition to the larger performance space, a smaller, studio space seating 50 was created during the summer of 2005. In no time at all, this smaller venue at the Apollo Theater Chicago went into high demand, becoming one of the country's most sought after performance spaces for start-up theater groups, sketches, comedy and improv.
The Apollo Theater schedule has featured many major productions over the years including the Broadway smash, Million Dollar Quartet as well as Peter Pan and Menopause the Musical. The venue is no stranger to high-profile, Hollywood actors either; Jim Belushi, Gary Sinise and John Malkovich have all tread The Apollo Theater Chicago boards at one time or another as cast members of various productions.
