Gallery KH is pleased to present Invoking the Unknown a rich collection of new abstracts by artist Rick Stevens, opening December 4 through February 22, 2010. An opening night cocktail reception is scheduled for Friday, December 4, 2009, 5-8PM.

“We are thrilled to be hosting Rick Steven’s new show as his work reverberates with so many people in such an intense way. His abstracts are mysterious yet uplifting, and this collection of new works will not disappoint his followers and new patrons alike,” says Shannon K. Rather, Gallery KH Assistant Director.

Rick Stevens paints with a language of sensitive expression that is supported by a romantic spatial organization. “I admit to being a romantic,” says Stevens. “A sense of mystery feels more real to me than something easily defined.” The seemingly randomness of nature is the backbone of Stevens’ compositions of form and color. Stevens continues, “I build from the principles I have learned painting landscapes to arrive at imagery that, however non-objective it may be, is pervaded by a unifying light source. I need the seemingly random order of wilderness to find the poetry for my work. It is the lifeblood of my art.”
