Description
Providing an equally idea setting for a romantic date as well as an outing with co-workers, the club is decked in deep red. Even during the most esoteric performances, though, the vibe is refreshingly down-to-earth. You won't even get grief for ordering a Bud from the bar. Plush booths lining the walls are open for those who'd like to drink and dine while the rest of the crowd is dancing. However, only high-level HotHouse members (those who donate a certain amount of money to the organization per year) may reserve the coveted seating.
The club's gallery space introduces Chicago to risk-taking artists as well as literary figures reading their latest work. A partnership with nearby Columbia College helps to lure a dynamic and seemingly endless supply of talent. Plus, by keeping ticket prices and rental fees to a minimum, the not-for-profit organization attracts a remarkably diverse clientele. Donate $50 or more per year and you'll earn membership status, with the perk of free admission to three concerts each month. Higher level members enter free anytime and get their name inscribed on the "Wall of Heroes."
