Double Door opened its doors for the first time on June 12, 1994. In its thirteen-year history Double Door has continued to leave an indelible stamp on the hearts and souls of the people of Chicago. Over the past dozen years Double Door has been host to many diverse and incredible musical acts including local favorites The Smashing Pumpkins, Local H, Veruca Salt, Liquid Soul, Jesse de la Pena, Liz Phair, Poi Dog Pondering, Rise Against, and Cheap Trick; national acts such as The Rolling Stones, Tenacious D, Tonic, Fu Manchu, Kid Rock, Afghan Whigs, Macy Gray, Michelle Branch, The Cranberries, John Legend, Bush, Fountains of Wayne, Damian Marley, Brutal Truth, and Henry Rollins as well as hundreds of young emerging artists working their way through the live music scene.

Double Door has a 473-person capacity and is made up of three distinct and unique areas. The main floor is home to the stage, a dance floor, and a large full service bar; the lower level has three regulation size pool tables, video and pinball games, several television monitors that offer patrons a live view of the main stage show, and a full service bar; the mezzanine level is the most intimate area of the club with it's lounge type setting, additional television monitors, and an amazing view of the stage, as well as a full service bar featuring a wide variety of wines by the glass.

Double Door continues to be a good citizen of Chicago and a good resident of its Wicker Park neighborhood, receiving numerous business and music awards. With each passing year Double Door works diligently to have a positive musical, cultural, and economical impact on the City of Chicago. As the city has grown and changed so has Double Door. We have worked harder to bring better and more diverse acts to the city, helping secure our place among the city's finest live music venues.
