South Shore/Jackson Park Highlands

Enjoy an approximately 4 mile walk through the South Shore and Jackson Park Highlands neighborhood. The tour will begin at La Rabida Children's Hospital (65th Street at Lake Michigan). We will walk north through historic Jackson Park visiting many remmants of the Chicago World's Fair of 1893 including the Osaka Gardens, the Museum of Science and Industry, the replica of "The Republic" statue and enjoying the beautifully landscaped park designed by Frederick Law Olmsted. We will exit the park to explore Jackson Park Highlands neighborhood and end our walk at the beautiful South Shore Cultural Center (approximately 4 blocks from our starting point). Directions: CTA: Take the Red Line to 69th St. and the #67 bus east to the end of the route at La Rabida Children's Hospital. Or take the #6 Jackson Park Express bus from Michigan Ave. downtown to South Shore Dr. & 67th St. and walk north along the lakefront to the hospital. Driving: Take Lake Shore Drive south to Marquette Dr., then east to Commodore Whalen Dr., then north to the hospital.
